Front Bumper Removal - 2015 ML 400

2015 ML 400 (166.056, M276.821)

Need some clarification on the proper procedure for removing the front bumper. Have the M-B document (AR88.20-P-2000GQ) but the vehicle differs slightly in its physical layout from that described in the document (six retention screws in lieu of four and different layout of the support frame on each side).

More importantly, though, is instruction #13... "Unhook bumper at sides and remove toward front"... with the removal warning..."Carefully unhook front bumper. Otherwise the retaining lugs in the front bumper can be damaged." The mounting components are plastic and can be displaced with moderate force from a flat bladed screwdriver but it is obvious they will break if too much force is applied. This is not a simple tongue and slot assembly; it appears that that each side has two right angle hooks that act has retention hardware. Having never seen a freestanding uninstalled bumper clip and the lack of clearance within the wheel well makes it difficult to visualize the proper release sequence.

Any guidance as to the removal process for this front bumper?
