New Ml needs oil change at 6K?

someone ask this question in another forum... Is it necessary for this break in oil change for a new ML? I know the regular intervals are 15k, and the oil filter that comes from the factory is different of that then the regular paper filter we use.. is there a reason for the early oil change? I believe because the new engine, is dirty inside and might have some metal shavings since its new.. is this necessary true? happy boxing day guys!

I changed the oil in mine after 400 miles. Also the filter in mine was just an OEM filter. After the first change, the other oil/filter changes come at 4K mile increments

I changed mine at 750, 1500 and 3000. It's been every 4K after that...I do it on all new vehicles for the reasons you stated!
