Wiper adjustment?
On a 2000 ML320 is there any way to reduce the number of automatic wiper passes when activated by the washer?
The factory setting is 4 passes, which is too many. After 2 passes the glass only looks worse. |

WOW! This was posted on the 4th? Sorry I didn't see it sooner.
No, I've never seen an adjustment for it, I assume it is pre-programmed into the AAM and has no version coding to lengthen or shorten the number of sweeps. If I get time I will do some searching on the subject at work. Gilly

Thanks for any info you can provide.
Gilly, Thanks for any info you can provide! This is an annoyance that I'm sure other owners would like to fix. Of course, if its in the AAM, the owner won't be able to make the adjustment...

Ross:
It is controlled by the AAM, and I'm not sure it's adjustable at all, through the AAM or otherwise. The function description for the system says: "To wipe the windshield dry, the motor continues to operate after the switch has been released until the AAM detects three operations of the cam operated switch". I know it runs through 4 times. I think it see's the 3 operations, then more or less tells itself "OK, after the 3rd time, I'll park the wipers. Not AT the 3rd time. AT the 3rd time it shuts the system down, but the motor is still provided current until it reaches the park position again. That's all the farther I have gotten with the question. If opportunity presents itself that I can look through an AAM for a version coding that can be changed to alter the number of sweeps, I'll look. Gilly
