Question 2003 ML500 Xenon Conversion

Hi, I just bought a 2003 ML500 demo for my wife and it didn't have Xenons. But the deal was too good to pass up. So how do I put Xenons into the truck now? I searched and found one thread, but the link to it was bad. I am not so concerned about the hi beams being xenons, mostly concerned with the low beams. I have found a local supplier for a Catz system and the price is right, but I need to make sure there is not a simpler way to do it with MB or close parts.

Thanks in advance for any help.

E. J.

Just swap out the headlamp units. Aim them when done please.
Have fun.

Thanks for the help Doctor,

But where do I find a set of new headlamp units? I have been told that the wiring is different for xenons and non xenons. Can you be a little more specific. Many thanks,

E. J.

You found the right place...

I sell the wire conversion kits

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33710&item=2406717452&rd=1

But since you already have the 2002 halogen projectors.. I suggest you just get a aftermarket H7 HID kit.. I sell them for $400 US.. if u're interested.. you pay the shipping thou =P it will cost you $1,200 US just for bi-xenon headlights.. its up to you which route you take..

Thanks Tabu...

Question, where do the igniters and ballast boxes mount in the ML for an aftermarket bulb switch for low beams?

Thanks for the help.

Ballasts..

They are called ballasts.. its best to get either phillips or hella.. don't get those cheap korean brands.. The ML is a big car, therefore there is alot of open space to work with.. You can mount them anywhere basically.. the OEM's are mounted below the actual projectors themselves.. so when you take out the headlights you can see the ballasts underneath the assembly. I mounted mines to the metal frame that is right above the headlights.. there is like a 3 inch gap there..

EJ,

You may want to check Performance Products for the headlight assemblies and the wiring connector. Thy're pricey but they have them. If you go to benzworld forums and search for xenons you find many threads which may be of interest. Steve Krabbenborg (MBenz) has some for sale at much less than PP, I just bought a pair myself!

I need the wiring connector too. Tabo is auctioning his last one to the highest bidder, so if you find a good source let me know!

Good Hunting! Ed

Ed, can you help out a noobie? Who is MBenz and Steve Krabbenborg?

I did find a guy who successfully used the PP headlights to put in xenons in an 03 truck at your recommendation on Benzworld.org forum. So now if I could just find a set of lights and wires for less than the $1300 PP wants.

Thanks for the help thus far.
