Could be a bad battery/alternator
When a battery is bad you might only hear the starter clicking as there is not enough juice for it to turn it.
Usually, when a battery is still good enough to get jump started , the engine should not turn off again, unless there is an issue with the alternator, which could be the cause of why the battery died in the first place.
Now these are only two possible scenarios out of many.
I would start by taking the battery to a local auto shop, sears or car parts store. They usually test batteries for free.
Start by process of elimination, which is what I usually do.
