Abnormal Brake Wear

My 2002 ML320 started to flash the brake wear light and parking brake light when i slightly depressed the brakes. Then, it started to beep at me at the same time. I thought that this was strange as I only have 8000 miles on the car.

I took it into the dealer, and they give me this, oh it's normal crap. Anyway, told them to check as the exterior pads seemed ok.

Anyway, they tore it apart and the inside pad on the drivers side was causing the sensor to go off.

1) Isn't this wear just incredible? I told the SA that this was crazy!!!

2) Why is the emergency light on and beeping!?!? They say it just means that the brake problem is severe (shouldn't the brake wear light gone off by itself at least once during my problem). And will it go away if I replace the brakes?

I took my truck back as paying $400 for front brakes seemed crazy. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I'm thoroughly irritated at the dealership.

Pick up a set of Mintex pads from Fastlane (see link above) and DIY.

$400 is absolutely insane. You can replace the pads AND the front rotors for that much and still have fund leftover.

Isn't that under warranty??

your ML is 2002.. how much mileage you have? you shouldn't pay a penny for the sensor problem!
