If you unhook your battery on a 1998 ml320 is there any start up procedures you need to follow when you reconnect your battery back up, or do you hook up your battery and drive away?

To reset the ESP, and make the light on the dash turn off, turn the steering wheel all the way to the left then turn back all the way to the right. Reset your radio with the proper code number. Your clock and day/date will have to be reset in the trip computer.
Now your ready to drive off.

The day/month/and YEAR need to be set in the trip computer.
On a 1998 it's possible (and even quite likely) that it doesn't have ESP and therefore no steering angle sensor.
