Due to the icy conditions here in Raleigh this week, my wife gave the kitchen pass to drive her ML.
MCS had been working fine until yesterday. After work on the way home I tried to turn on the radio and was unable. It seems there is no power to the MCS at all given there are no lights and when pressing the 'open' for the face it does not work as well. I phoned the local dealer service today, he was going to ask a mechanic about the location of the fuse. But, he did not return the call. Can anyone direct to a fuse? I have searched the forums here and found nothing that would indicate this is occurence that is common, but if any of you MB technicians know better please let me know. It should be covered under warranty, but if I can replace a fuse hopefully that will be all. Thanks |

Update
Sorry, I should have stated that I had already checked the fuse under the hood, position F21 it was fine.
My real question should have been: Is there another location of fuses on the ML? It seems my C class has two locations one under hood and another inside the cabin. Any thoughts! |

There's one on the back of the MCS itself, need to pull the radio to check it. On some of the earlier MCS units (2000 model year, maybe into 2001) there were some problems like this. Possibly the dealer can look up the bulletin and maybe MB will stand behind it. In the cases I am familiar with, the easiest cure was to remove the MCS, disconnect the power connector, then reinstall it, enter the security code and it'd work fine. For some reason just pulling the fuse wouldn't fix it. You could also disconnect the battery, as long as you realize you'd need to reinitialize the steering angle sensor, clock, trip computer, sunroof, etc as neccesary to get everything working again. If that fixes it, I'd see if the dealer can help out, known problem.
