I have to agree. Joe is VERY knowledgeable on MB cars and is willing to go out of his way to help. He posts responses regularly to MBCA queries and has been more than fair with me.

I actually drive out there from Queens, over 50 miles each way to get this good service.

Chandler Auto In NYC

Anyone ever heard of this shop?

They only work on MBs. I'm considering taking my ailing '82 300D to them but wonder about their reputation.. Any intel on them?

Thanks.

Premier Auto is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!!
Vito is a wonderful guy, and he knows his cars. I live in Brooklyn, and my 1994 E320 Benz was sitting for a YEAR waiting for $$$ to be fixed. Vito and Joe picked up my car; double checked, confirmed and did everything the dealership wanted to do; PLUS fixed my rear brakes; drained and replaced the fluids; gave me a new battery; had the car detailed; and DELIVERED my baby to me--for $500 less than the dealership ransom for half the work. I will be going back again and again.

And if you decide to go, anyone, tell Vito Alison sent you.

The phone number is 718-981-1121.
Ask for Vito or Joe.

Hope that helps!

I recently noticed a shop on Willis Ave (Albertson, LI) and there were about 6-7 MBs parked there. I didn't have time at that time and haven't been there in that area so don't know for sure. I was between IU Willets and Hillside.

I agree with Sixto - if he was good you should follow him to Florida. The bugs and humidity are both manageable problems compared to finding a new mechanic in NY.

Beware of this dealer in Queens, NY.

This was in the local paper last week May 17, 2004:

A businessman blew a gasket when he found out a Mercedes dealership mechanic allegedly took his $80,000 SUV on an unauthorized road trip.

Fred Asher, 30, told The Post yesterday he took his swank black four-wheel drive G500 to Helms Brothers Mercedes-Benz in Bayside, Queens, Wednesday morning for a 10,000-mile checkup.

But when Asher returned in the evening to pick it up, employees there told him they didn't know where it was and sent him home with a loaner car. The dealership called a day later to tell him they were waiting for parts and that the car would be ready Friday.

But when Asher showed up Saturday afternoon, he said, "Half an hour passed. They said, 'We're having a little problem finding your car. Just take another loaner car and we'll find it on Monday.' "

But Asher was out of patience. He called police, as well as OnStar, the onboard tracking system.

Cops followed the signal to 186th Street and Hillside Avenue in Hollis, where they nabbed Bramday Sundown - a Helms Brothers mechanic - shortly before 2 a.m., police said. It wasn't clear if the car had been out since Wednesday or was taken on Saturday.

Sundown's father George, 54, said his son often took cars home from Helms Brothers - but with the authorization of the dealership, he believed.

Calls to Helms Brothers were not returned.

Where are you in Brooklyn? There's a couple of shops that are supposed to be good--Kraft German Auto (see Steve and ONLY Steve) and Mitchells.

I live in Bklyn, but I take my '94 E320 to Staten Island to a mechanic.
