You heard it here first guys. They just interupted local programming to say that 4 people had parachuted on to the Tip O'Neil building. (It's next door to the Fleet Center).
As far as I can tell only Channel 5 (ABC) reported it and their information was sketchy. They did say it wasn't a drill and that a SWAT team had been dispatched.
That is all the info for now.

12:39AM Update: Originally Boston Police reported having 4 individuals in custody, they have now backed off that. Local, State and Secret Service plus helicopters are now searching the surrounding area with high powered lights. They don't know if it is real or a diversion. Supposedly 2 individuals reported seeing between 2-4 parachutists land in the "hard zone" surrounding the Fleet Center.
What's weird is that no other news organizations are reporting it as of yet.

I lived in rural ohio during 9/11, and I remember tons of questionable reports coming in that day after everyone figgured out it had been a deliberate attack. One was about a plane supposedly headed to the VA hospital in Dayton, Ohio. As if some terrorist had Dayton on the top of the hit list...

I hope this is just a bit of paranoia/anticipation causing people to see things that are not there and nothing serious. 5 did report that the secret service detained some 'middle eastern-looking' guy from the protest group. I wonder if the Secret Service is asking the media to hold off on reporting just in case it is a snow job so that the paranoia doesnt escalate even further...

I was down by the Fleet Center yesterday with my son and saw a U-Haul get pulled over by an undercover cop. They really aren't taking any chances.

when I googled parachute and fleet center, I found some FAA document issued a month ago detailing the no-fly zones and specifically no-parachuting zones around these conventions. My buddy in the coast guard says it is as wound up as he's ever seen it, including right after 9/11.
No chances is probably not a bad idea. Sadly, I think it would be almost impossible to stop a couple single individuals if they were intent on doing something they shouldnt... and had something nasty enough to do it with.

I'm going to check the tube and see if anyone is leaking it yet..

Well seems the local news organizations don't have a real good handle on what happened. Channel 7 (NBC)reported something happened involving parachutists but they weren't specific, nor did they clarify whether it was a drill or real.
