It lets me know that there are people out there worse off than I am.

I still have hope.

I actually find it quite enlightening. I have never had the opportunity to listen to and converse with a group of folks as sharp and knowledgeable as the people on this forum. It gives me a respite from the continual barrage of moronism (newly invented word) that pervades my daily life.

That is an AWESOME word, Brian! Gonna add that one to my daily vocab.

I enjoy the different perspetives that folks have here - helps me to think about certain issues in a different light sometimes ...

Not to mention that you can post just about ANYTHING here AND be assured that someone has been there, done that, and is happy to offer free advice. Priceless ....

I'm with Brian Carlton's opinion, but adding that there are a number of us here who stuck it out to get a private pilot license.
It's a small group compared to the general population;those of us who are pilots who also appreciate/own/maintain fine quality MBs. I'm proud to be among you.

For those who aren't pilots here, most have taken their efforts and put them into just as challenging avenues of interest with good results. Most on this OD forum offer their expertise/opinions on whatever topic using thoughtful, polite, well written responses.
These things can't be said of other OD forums I've perused.

Just using IQ as a subject, I'm sure the average here is much higher than most other OD forums you'll run into, if you look around.

This place helps to make the Internet a nicer experience for me.
Cheers to you.

I can only dream of the day MercedesShop would host a cocktail party, and all of the most verbose of the OD bunch attended!

Wouldn't that be a sight!? Probably would look and sound like a commodities trading pit!

OD changed my life...

by letting me know there are others out here on the third rock just like me.

There aren't too many places off the Gulf Coast that I can holler doodlebug and have people know what I'm talking about. Yet here there are actually a handful who not only know, but did the same thing.

Sometimes it can be a lonely road.

I've thought about that and what would make it more interesting would be to have no name tags! Just chew the fat and see what face matches what ID.

But, back to topic, I'll go with Brian. Some sharp minds here, and it's all interesting. Plus, the paper never prints my letters, at least here a few people read my dithering, though they might later regret it.
