Kerry Phones Swift Boat Foes (begging For A Ceasefire)
This is sad. . . because he is starting to look like he is "begging" for mercy. I know he was hoping the private groveling attempt to an old bunk budy would work but now that it hasn't (big, big gamble too) the failure only makes him look more guilty in the public's eye.
I'll bet he is trying to decide if actually "apologizing" to all the Viet Nam Veterans he smeared and "correcting the record" (admit he lied) will save him from this free fall disaster he created for himself. This should be a lesson to anyone else who sprints down to the local PX to buy a camcorder in order to fabricate a story for political use 35 years later but who is too stupid to remember that grandiose speeches are sometimes recorded and kept. It is especially important for others who also believe they are a "big time-know-it-all-man-of-the-people" to remember that it will be just as hard for them as it is now for Herman to say you were misquoted if you stupidly place your statements into the United States Congressional Record. What a sap KERRY PHONES SWIFT BOAT FOES (BEGGING FOR A CEASEFIRE) Dem presidential hopeful John Kerry personally phoned anti-Kerry swift boat vets, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned. Kerry reached out to Robert "Friar Tuck" Brant Cdr., USN (RET) Sunday night, just hours after former Sen. Bob Dole publicly challenged Kerry to apologize to veterans. Brant was skipper of the #96 and # 36 boat and spent time with Kerry in An Thoi. Kerry and Brant slept in the same quarters, and Brant used to put Kerry back to bed at night when Kerry was sleepwalking. Brant received a call from Kerry at his home in Virginia while he was watching the Olympics on TV. The call lasted 10 minutes, sources tell DRUDGE. KERRY: "Why are all these swift boat guys opposed to me?" (like he doesn't have a clue) BRANT: "You should know what you said when you came back, the impact it had on the young sailors and how it was disrespectful of our guys that were killed over there." [Brant had two men killed in battle.] KERRY: "When we dedicated swift boat one in '92, I said to all the swift guys that I wasn't talking about the swifties, I was talking about all the rest of the veterans." (GROVELING ATTEMPT 1) Kerry then asked if he could meet Brant ["You were one of the best"] -- man to man -- face to face. (GROVELING ATTEMPT 2) Brant declined the invite, explaining that Kerry was obviously not prepared to correct the record on exactly what happened during Vietnam and what happened when Kerry came back. (EXACTLY!)

Tell me, is this Drudge "article" as accurate as the one about Kerry's Intern Girlfriend? This stuff is the Internet equilvelent of the two-headed baby tabloids.

There is a lot of delusional thinking on the right these days. Must be something going around.

Kirk, How utterly typical of you.
Why doesn't Kerry simply refute these lying charges? He can release ALL his service records-- not cherry pick. No, the "liberal" tactic is to try and deny these people's freedom of speech and attack, and smear them. You have posted how much you fear the Right's possible impinging on your rights. Here's an example of the Left's actually attempting to deny those very rights. The only rights which are guanteed are those of the LEFT. Its amazing, but the Left accuses the Right of planning what they ( the Left) are actually doing. Do you still believe there is no Leftist bias to the media? I am referring to the report that reporters plan to vote for Kerry 4:1, nationwide, and 12:1 inside the capitol beltway. According to Newsweek, they hope to add 15% to Kerry's totals by their efforts. |

He did release them, months ago. Limbaugh keeps claiming he hasn't. More disinformation:

Their credibility would improve if they didn't target just one side of whatever issue they think is important. These guys may be right, I don't know. But I'd put more faith in it if they sought to correct all media erros, not just those they disagree with.
B Media Matters for America is a Web-based, not-for-profit progressive research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media. Conservative misinformation is defined as news or commentary presented in the media that is not accurate, reliable, or credible and that forwards the conservative agenda. For the first time, Media Matters for America has put in place a system to monitor the media for conservative misinformation – every day, in real time -- in 2004 and beyond. Media Matters for America’s website — www.mediamatters.org — is the principal vehicle for disseminating research and information through a range of initiatives: Media Monitoring: Comprehensively monitor a cross section of print, broadcast, cable, radio, and Internet media outlets to identify conservative misinformation. Media Analysis: Analyze the monitoring data, including broader trends in media coverage of politics and public policy, and post reports detailing the ways in which conservative misinformation is disseminated through media. Reports will include: Rapid-response items documenting conservative misinformation in each news cycle, posted to the website in real time. Longer research and analytic reports, appearing several times per week. Occasional reports of a broader scope, delving deeper than daily and weekly material. Inaugural Projects: Democracy Project. Track and swiftly correct conservative media misinformation on major current political issues, with the goal of discouraging responsible news outlets from giving it credence. Radio Project. Comprehensively monitor, analyze, and correct targeted political talk radio shows. Columnist Project. Monitor to ensure that dozens of syndicated columnists -- and the newspapers that publish them -- maintain journalistic standards in their opinion columns. Activism Project. In the planning stages, the Activism Project will spur progressive activism based on standards and accountability in media. |

Kirk,
He did not release the full records. He merely released portions of them. Come on, you're smarter than that! |
