Do you think it's devisive to continue to display your presidential bumper sticker?

I took my BUSH/CHENEY sticker down the day after the election. No need to keep it up or rub anyone's nose in the election results.

Just wondering if anyone else feels the same way. To a degree, I can understand if someone wanted to keep their KERRY/EDWARDS sticker up to let people know they didn't support this administration... but is it really necessary and isn't it a bit devisive?

Well, I suppose they can be construed as divisive, but on the other hand, the whole point of bumper stickers is to be divisive and inflammatory in a very minor way. Divisive bumper stickers are half the fun of having a car. So although I'll vote divisive, I think the more bumper stickers there are in general, the better.

I never put political stickers on my car.

It just seems to beg for vandalism.

It's hard enough to keep a car nice as it is...door dings, shopping carts, stupid drivers, bad roads, etc......I don't want to beg for even MORE trouble....

True... I'm pretty sure the Darwin fish I had on my Saturn got me keyed. It also prompted this couple to start witnessing to me one fine summer day on 285, which was fun.

"Hey! Do you know Jesus?"
"Jesus? Yeah... he cuts my lawn sometimes..."

My only "political" sticker is still on the car, but that's only 'cause I haven't removed it yet.

Yes, it was meant as a satire, and no, I didn't do a write-in vote for this guy

I think they're a waste of campaign dollars. WHO is gonna decide their vote based on a stupid sticker or sign in the yard? Might as well put a "Wall Drug" bumper sticker on the bumper, and a "Happy Halloween" sign in the yard in the few weeks before the election.

As far as the Presidential election goes, you're probably right.

But for state and local candidates....I think signs and stickers can do a lot. A LOT of voters show up at the polling place knowing very little, or nothing, about the people running for state and/or local offices....so they just vote for the guy from their party, or they vote for the one with the "familiar" name....the one they saw one time on a TV spot during the local news, or the one that some of their neighbors had yard signs or bumper stickers for.

Sad but true in many cases.

I agree with you on that point Mike, local guys are usually the ones nobody knows on the average.

Speaking of yard signs and such....

I saw a very funny thing a few weeks ago, before the election.

Not far from where I live, there's a 2-story brick house, a pretty large one, that had 3 or 4 "Kerry/Edwards" signs in all of the upstairs windows, and had 3 or 4 "Bush/Cheney" signs in all of the 1st-floor windows!

Either someone was very confused, or the place is a rental duplex! hahaha....

I wanted to take a picture and post it here for everyone's amusement, but it was during the "dark ages", when our beloved forum was taken from us.

Mike
