If he gets $60 grand for that engine, I'm going into that business!

I am under the impression that the fuel distributer costs $35k to buy from MB. So if it has a new fuel distributer then thats not such a bad deal...

Their is no cheap part on a 600, they cost a fortune to buy new, and take another fortune to maintain. Heck a seat switch in a Pullman is $1,200.

The problem is that everything is very low volume.

But nothing screams class and old money like a nice Pullman.

I'm guessing Karl Middlehauve would be able to find a MB Grand motor and rebuild it to those standards or better, for less $. Shoot, he even supercharges them.

*he* doesn't do it, he acts as middleman, and contracts with some other company that has the components. His setups are $$$$. You could probably do better/cheaper with off the shelf race products. You could have electronic FI/ignition for not all that much.

Now that's a pretty expensive engine.
It might not fit "your" lawnmower, but here's a guy that builds 454 powered snowblowers. It might fit "his" lawnmower.

I saw a brand new 6.3 FI pump on Ebay for $5k and it did not sell. Anybody quoting 35k is on crack. Urban legend. I remember before i bought my 6.9 people were saying cams for that motor were $10k. You could have one custom made for less than $500.

If the FI pump went for example $20k used, I would sell my pump, and have a complete Motec FI/Ignition installed on my 6.3 for $10k.

It would run a lot better too. Karl puts EFI on those engines.

I am seriously considering it. Next time I am back in Houston I'll chat with my old Porsche mechanic, he is a Motec guy. He makes custom slide valve intakes, would be cool to see 8 of those suckers hanging off my motor.....

But that would blow the budget....
