My first BP rifle was an inline. But I wanted to shoot silhouette at our club and the requirement is that you must have open, rotating hammers to be able to get in on the fun.

I love my frontloaders! Blazing away at something 15 yards away with a pistol is fun but knocking down a steel ram silhouette at 100 yds with your "inaccurate" muzzle loader is some of the best fun you can have with your clothes on.

All mine are slow twist barrels for patched ball.

The smokepole arsenal:
H&A underhammer in .50 with Green Mountain barrel (built from a kit about 3-4 years ago)
Custom Inghram Underhammer acton with long target barrel in .40 and shorter .54 game barrel
Custom Inghram Underhammer target pistol in .50

On a good day, if I do my part, the .40 will place 5 shots at 75 yds that you can cover with the palm of your hand...iron sights too.

I just got back from the range, @ 100yds it's 2.5 high with a nice clover leaf and @ 200 it's about 3/4 inch low with a sub 1/2 MOA group, I'm very pleased to say the least.

Thanks the to Zeiss sighting in was a 2 shot deal the 1/4 inch increments are really that unlike Buri**** and Leogarbage. Hmmmmm maybe a windage turret on that baby for those LONG shots.

Anyway I can't wait to punch a hole in something this weekend. I'm not going to be as picky I like to get a kill in right off the bat with a new gun.
