Turtles Sue Applebee's
LOS ANGELES, California (Reuters) -- It turns out restaurateur Applebee's International Inc. and the 1960s pop group the Turtles aren't so happy together after all.

Two of the group's members, Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan (Remember "Flo & Eddie?"), have sued the chain and its advertising agency, FCB Worldwide Inc., over an ad which modified lyrics to their 1967 hit "Happy Together."

In the ad, the words "Imagine me and you, I do/I think about you day and night, it's only right" become "Imagine steak and shrimp, or shrimp and steak/Imagine both of these on just one plate."

No word on whether the Newbeats and their 1964 hit "Bread and Butter" are getting counsel for the ads promoting Skillet Sensations.

I'm not a musician, so not knowledgible in this area, but isn't music older than 11 years old fair game for remakes etc?

If that were the case, George Harrison could have done "My Sweet Lord" with the Chiffons in the background.

I stated that becasue thats the point so many songs are done on Remake....not after 1 or 2 years. Some 2 three and 4 different remakes. Such as Last Kiss for one example....

There's a whole business sector that negotiates clearances for music, movie clips, photographs, quotes and the like, when used for commercial purposes. Flo & Eddie must be loving the attention!

OK, I wondered about that.....being a non-musician, that was clearly something I would not know about.....

All I do is enjoy the music that is created.

Clearly......many are very old.........but those are not what I was refering to.
