iPod Question

My wife recently gave me an iPod she received as a gift and it is pretty cool. I'm not a gadget geek though and have some questions.

1. Will it lose all its memory of songs when the battery goes dead and therefore I need to keep all the CD downloaded music on the computer to re-load?

2. I'm aware of the 18 month life expectency of the battery but has this issue been resolved by Apple?

1. The ipod has a hard drive. If you unplug your computer does the hard drive lose all its info? No. So the same is true for the ipod.

2. The ipod battery is replaced for you by Apple for $99. You can buy the battery online and install it yourself but that voids the warranty. www.ipodbattery.com/ipodminiinstall.html

I would always leave the songs on your computers hard drive, mobile hard-drives are not the most reliable ones. I'm at my 4th mobile drive for my Powerbook...

I absolute love my Ipod, got it hooked up to my vintage Becker, sound is great!
