To avoid threadjack, how long is your commute?
 

So I was in the process of threadjacking Lebenz, and relized it would probably be better to just start a new thread.

So, out of curiosity, how long does it take you folks to commute to work, and where is this commute taking place? I've got at least an hour into the city and an hour out everyday and figure that's pretty much standard for my area (Chicagoland).

my work is not far from me probably within 15 miles, but since I have to take regular surface streets, it takes about 40 mins in the morning and anywhere from 45 mins to 1.5 hours home in the evening. (I don't speed I just take my time and cruise. no need to speed especially when gas costs are always fluctuating)

Lately I have been detouring to the golf course driving range to hit some balls after work if I can.. traffic is much clearer after hitting balls for 30 mins to an hour.

I leave for work at 7:50 am and get there at 8:30 am. Rather be early than late. Some days its worse if there is an accident or if they decide to do construction on any road near my normal route, that can easily add 10 - 20 mins to the drive.

If I leave work at 6:00 I get home usually around 7:00 pm. if I go to the driving range, I get home around 7:30 - 8:00

23 miles each way, in a southeastern city.

Currently 3.8 miles Round trip door to parking spot and back.

8 minutes, door to desk.

Although I will probably (hopefully) be changing that for the worse, for a better job soon.

About 50 minutes for a 30 mile drive (plus short/long cuts) with about 6 miles each side to get to/from the freeway, into the San Fernando Valley through the Newhall Pass.

Just after the Northridge Earthquake it was a different story. The 18 lanes both ways through the pass on the freeway and side roads went down to two.

DC area: uhghh. Try 1.5 hours into work and about 2 hours returning. Depends on where my clients are and time of day. But DC commutes are among the worst in the nation regardless. Thank God for XM radio!!

I go in the garage, get in the car and I AM at work. :)

Another DC commuter. 26 miles from home in Fairfax, VA to NIH in Bethesda, MD, about 10 miles on surface roads, rest is interstate. Leave at 6:15 am, arrive 45 minutes later. Leave at 5:30pm, arrive who knows when. Just 10 more years.

10 feet from the bedroom to my office which is the next room

I drive 20 minutes each way fighting the stupidest of drivers, and stategically placed potholes. I dont know why but every single pot hole on my way to work either in the path of one wheel or the other. NONE are in the straight middle where it would make so much sense to have them. I swear the road nazis designed the streets of toronto. Thank god there is only one road in Canadia

Its about 6 miles from the front door to the campus parking lot, which takes abbout 15 minutes on surface streets, or 10 minutes via freeway.
Like to take the freeway to class, and surface streets back so I can run errands, or hit the news stand on my way home.... ;)

I work at different locations almost every day. My customers range from about 3 to 70 miles each way. I see on average 2 customers offices per day and spend anywhere between 20 minutes and 3 hours of daily car time. That’s why I got a MB in the first place. It's also why i'm gonna start playing with audio books on CD. What the hey!

About 20 miles each way, I can get there in 25 minutes, and get back in 20, from NW Houston to N Houston, on the beltway (the Houston autobahn).

1.5-4.5 hours each way depending on traffic and weather. 65 miles each way accross the city of Chicago.
