EARTHLINK.NET - ISP - are they reliable?

Does anyone here use earthlink.net dial-up service and if so, how have they done for you? Has their service been reliable and what about no-cost phone support. If it exists, is it any good?

Thanks.

I had them for a while (about 3-4 years ago), pretty good ISP. Better than AOL, but that's not saying much

Anyway, they had a decent amount of numbers, good connection speeds and good support.

TN-Diesel:

I had service with southwestern bell for awhile - the worst I've experienced so far.

I use Earthlink DSL, and the service is pretty good.....very few "outages", and it's more than fast enough. My connection is mysteriously dropped every now and then, but all I have to do is turn my DSL modem off and on again, and it's fixed. ??? I dunno why it does this....

When I was travelling extensively, I used Earthlink dial-up for several years, in probably 200 or more different cities, and in Australia. Usually the connection speeds were OK....When I did have the occasional slow hook-up, I think the speed was more often limited by my hotel's lousy phone system, rather than the actual Earthlink system...And they had local connection numbers in a surprising number of "out-of-the-way" places.

Overall, their service has been very good. Dealing with their customer service can sometimes be tedious, but that is pretty much the norm with EVERY company now. Whenever you call a customer support number, you're probably going to be speaking to someone in India or Malaysia or somewhere, who barely speaks English....Very frustrating sometimes....but they always have been able to resolve whatever issues I've had....eventually, at least.

In all the years I've been using Earthlink, I've actually had very few technical problems with my service....only once or twice that I can remember. But I've had 3 or 4 instances of billing errors that I had to call and get corrected! I don't know why they have so much trouble keeping my bill straight, but it has happened more than once. It was resolved to my satisfaction each time, but it's still something to look out for.

Mike

Been with them since 1997

I've had them for my personal e-mail (dial-up) since 1997 and for my domain hosting since 2001. I've never had any problems with them whatsoever and customer service has been very responsive.

pretty much the same thing.. the dial-up can be a bit slow sometimes but kool otherwise.. i've used the live chat before to resolve problems whitch was fast and pretty convinient... no billing problems what so ever but i am going to give SBC dsl a try.. 20$/mo can't be beat...

when traveling i use public access terminals.. they are everywhere... even in BFE....
