IL just blew it... they had a lead and frittered it away.

As for officiating... that stuff drived me nuts. The IL game wasn't too bad, but there was a marked difference in officiating in the last three minutes or so. This has always driven me nuts. If it's a foul in the first half of the game, why isn't it a foul in the last 60 seconds of the game? I think Roger Powell was fouled on the 2nd to last IL posession (the officials apparently saw a clean block), but hey, neither here nor there. IL put themselves in that situation with poor shooting and spotty defense anyway.

I saw Duke highlights on TV. It looked to me like the "last 2-3 minutes" style of officiating there, too. That's too bad!

After a lengthy succession of weak opponents, Illinois just didn't look inspired. They're pretty mind-blowing when they're on their game, but the Big 10 really sucks this year. Hopefully, they'll draw Michigan St. in the Big Ten tourney to breathe some life back into them. Even if they lose, they'll benefit from playing a quality opponent.

I completely agree... poor Penn State just plain suck, and Purdue just doesn't come close. They were getting a little apathetic. Maybe the loss will light a fire under their butts. It's going to get interesting starting Friday!

Duke always had a very good team but their biggest nemesis is the Terps. Yes, only the Terps know how to beat Duke. Go Terps!

Its been a tough year for TERP fans. Why do they fall 10 points back in the first 5 minutes and then play even for the rest of the game, only to lose by that original 10 points?
If Gary Williams can't make them play coming out of the locker room, who can?
My dream ----an all ACC final four!

go HEELS! c/o 97 ;)

I guess I need to get over to Open Discussion more often.........

What a great win for UNC. It's being talked about as possibly the most significant win over Duke since the Phil Ford days. Either way, you have guys who were 8-20 and poorly coached for their 1st 2 seasons, and then they pull off the first Reg Season Championship since '93 - the last time we won it all.

We have a team that can go all the way, like '93, but could very easily lose to say, a Boston College in the first round (94). I'm just ready for some March Madness.

Duke is a good team but certainly not like the early 90s. UNC on the other hand is like the Duke and UNC teams of the early 90s, and I can only hope the trend toward leaving early for the NBA has started to die i the ACC. It's the only way we will consistently have this level of play, like we have with Carolina this year.

Some other comments, Brandini, Wake has been the dirtiest team for some time now! This year has definitely capped it off. I may be a Tarheel but I at least respect Duke; I have zero respect for Wake as a team, and I consider them our new arch rival. I hope we can play them for the championship(s) and send them back where they (Paul) belong.

It was indeed surreal to see #1 and #3 lose just before I flipped to the UNC/Duke game........Crazy! But it just goes to show that any team can be beaten by any other team, at some point. Just glad #2 survived!

I can agree with that... DUKE is definately not what they have been in recent years, I sure wish we hadn't lost Loul Deng to the NBA.

On that note DUKE proved that they could control a game against UNC in their own house. The game could have gone either way. In fact DUKE had the largest lead of the game easily and also had the lead for the majority of the game. My heart sank when JJ's 3 point shot sank to the bottom of the cylinder and then rimmed out at the last seconds of the game..... There were some very questionable calls BOTH ways however the last two questionable calls were in UNC's favor.....Oh well they may just meet again soon in the ACC tournament.

Did you see the Wake vs. NC state game ? Unbleivable what Paul did......He should have been ejected.

I didn't see the game itself, just the clip. I can't believe it took until the next week to make that call. Like I said, WF is a dirty team, very physically aggressive. I'll be "working from home" on my couch for our game tomorrow, and look forward to some great action this weekend. Definitely a ripe weekend for rematches
