white 1988 300SE/ silver 1986 420SEL 95k
Other than the usual (PPI, service records, A/C, A/C conversion, rust, etc.), are there any other areas to check out on these models? I remember someone worried about timing gear teeth material on 560 SEL's up 'til a certain date, E500's needing a wiring harness replacement .... stuff like that.
And the favorite game of all time... estimated price. Don't know mileage on 300SE, both seem to have dark interiors. A rainy Valentine's Day project for the forum.... thanks. |

And by the way- is there a standard PPI for MB? Is a good local independent going to be looking at the same stuff as a dealer? Is there a sheet, a checklist, a form?

I had a PPI from an indie. I could have done a better job myself and saved my money.

The 300SE shows 174k on the odo, with a blue interior. The silver 420SEL has a grey interior. Both seem nice enough, although they both suffer a bit from the etched wheel syndrome. No dash cracks, maybe a bit sad on the floormats, and the usual small rub marks on the left driver bolster.... but not horrible.
