My local dealership had a (invitation only) release of the new CLS today.

While I suspect that there will be people on both sides fo this....up close, I love the lines of this car. They had a silver one, but the red one being prep'd for delivery to a customer was absolutely gorgeous.

Downside....I'm a big guy, and getting into this car was a bit of a trick. The roofline is a touch low, and it was a long way down to the seat, and I still had to crack my neck to get in it. Once inside however, it fit like a glove.

So - Mixed feelings. Love the look. Love how it feels inside. Hate getting in and out.

Saw one at the Pittsburgh Auto show last saturday and my first impression was that this was one of the most beautiful cars I had ever seen. Like you though, I though entry and egress was a bit tough for me and really bad for a 6'2" person. The sides also are an invitation for door dings with no protection of any kind. A strange setup for Mercedes for sure, but with that car they definately went after the wow factor and let the details take care of themselves. The dent wizards will love them.

MB of North Haven just got a silver one. I have no idea how it fits into MB's line but it sure is nice looking!

I would buy one, in black though I think it would look sick in black with 19in Brabus wheels.

I saw one (CLS 500) too at my dealer couple weeks ago. It really is a beautiful car. I know alot of people is down on it. I sat in the cabin and it makes a S Class looks bad. The car was already sold - to the owner of the Raven

I don't know the exact price probably around $70k. I think it is priced around a loaded E500 and a base S430.

You been hiding under a rock???

There has been a CLS500 parked on the street across from my place quite a bit lately. I think the owner bought a loft in one of the refirbs locally, as this car is frequenly on the street. even overnight. yeesh. My dog almost 'watered' the car on the way to the dog park this afternoon, as I was drooling. Fortunately, both of us kept our respective fluids to ourselves.

I have. Just visit the OD alot less, the MBShop in general, since there is a banned topic. I now active in other forums that are a little more "tolerant" in other discussions. I stop by here every now and then to see if anything interesting to talk about.
