Exclamation OD thread rules v.2.5

OK, here is what I am trying to do:
Max 3 political/religious threads. I recommend those with thin-skins to stay out. These threads will be "stickys". Once they reach about 100 posts, or there has been no activity on one of them they will be unstuck and "closed". I will wait a few days and then delete them. I will try to monitor them, if I see one is getting "way" out of hand I may either put a warning post on the thread, or shut the thread down early as I see fit. If I see that we are "short" a political/religious thread I may solicit for a new one by starting a thread and making it a "sticky" with the title "start new political/religious thread here", I can later modify the title of the thread. If I see a political/religious thread started which would drive the total over 3, I would weigh a few options. I could temporarily allow an extra thread to exist, or if a previously existing thread is slowing up or turning ugly, I may lock the previous thread and sticky the new one. Or I may just delete the extra thread, it's a chance you take if you start a political/religious thread. And I think I mentioned before, when it comes to determining if a thread constitutes a political/religious topic, it's all by my interpretation.

I just wanted to take a minute to protest the closing of the "Freedom of speech vs hate crime: Which is it?", which after wallowing in name calling turned into a reasonable discussion on the origins of Christianity. Instead of closing the whole thread, couldn't some type of warning to those carrying on the War of Northern Ireland been sufficient?

Far be it from me to stand up for rules I consider to be fundamentally absurd, but I believe that thread exceeded the 100 post allotment for an overtly political thread. Just copy the last relevant post and start your own thread along the same lines to maintain a thematic continuation.

Yup, anything over 100 posts is fair game, unless it dies out before that.

A plea for the cyber life of Carelton Hughes

I can see the reason for the ban by reading the last two entrys of this thread:
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=139500

Perhaps after some period of banishment he can be considered to have 'learned his lesson' and be reinstated.

I am begining to miss the daily vocabularly lesson...

What happened to Carelton Hughes and when did I miss it?

It would seem, based on the statements of the linked thread's last poster, that Carelton's 'last' post once contained an image... The image itself I will leave to your imagination which can sometimes be nicer than the real thing.
