As far as spelling is concerned...just look at the postings on this forum (and others)...spelling and grammatical errors everywhere! And we learned the correct approach in grammar school for Pete's sake!

I see the same on e-mails and circulated documents...and this from a seemingly educated lot!

If we can't get it right, why should we expect other non-native cultures to do so?
My point was thanks to afirmative action quotas the best and brightest aren't the ones getting the slots in the colleges and Universities these days.......

But you are correct....the liberal teachers are doing a pathetic job at educating students these days...and yes many are unprepaired.

I'm white, but I was thinking of getting a tan this year....
And stupidity isn't illegal, but I keep writing my senators about it.
Claiming "racial discrimination" is just something losers do to get attention and usually money.

...ya, they passed a couple of laws, thus ending all semblances of racial discrimination--end of story.

Remember when they passed some laws and ended hunger and want with that whole war on poverty thing? Remember when we used to have a drug problem, prior to those get tough laws, and the successful war on drugs?

Wow, there oughtta be a law...

There are some citizens have have a 385 year history on this continent, 245 involving slavery, 100 involving legalized discrimination, and only 40 since the passage of the 1965 Civil Rights Act. Affirmative action has progressed as well, going from a "quota" system to the most recent Supreme Court decision that race is merely a single factor of many qualifications. We are advancing, but the idea that caucasians are getting ripped off as a result is simply ignorant.

Its equally ignorant to say that 90 % of the mechanics at my Ford dealership aren't... Latino? Racial discrimination is being done to everyobody its nothing a law can solve. As far as I'm concerned if you dont want someone working with/for you for any reason, you should be able to tell them to go to hell. If some people spent as much time looking for jobs, opportunities and hobbies as they do *****ing, there wouldn't be this kind of problem.

When a caucasion who scores 1350 on the SAT gets turned away from a college so a minority who scores 900 can get in thats racial discrimination......

and even a liberal can't twist that into something else. Nobody alive was a slave here...........everyone had a education ....none of MY relatives were even on this continant 80 years ago..and had nothing to do with it..so thats a real weak arguement only a liberal can even see merit in. Everyone entering colege today was born AFTER the civil rights amendment...NONE of them had the issue previous generation might have had.

now if both people had the same scores....then flip a coin.......otherwise it should be purely on merit. And colorblind.

Last time I checked, which would have been a couple years ago, college admissions are not based on that bastion of equality, the Scholastic Apptitude Test. Talk about a test designed to close the doors to higher education for the new majority of the population. Modern day applications also scrutinize family background, extra curricular activities and community involvement. More than 300 schools, most of them small, private institutions, have dropped SAT scores from entry requirements.

When there's a fair educational system for black, hispanic, native American and other sections of the children in the country, then we can talk about getting rid of affirmative action. The problem we have is an unfair education system in America.

When "Lincoln freed the slaves" what did it really accomplish without society finally changing over these past years? Yes, this is the post-Civil Rights Amendment generation, and look what a difference it's made. One day, hopefully soon, affirmative action will be obsolete.

Same bunch of liberals dreaming up new ways to keep the old quotas....

Personally if you are acepted or not should be purely based upon test scores...screw with people today and they are going to remember it.....

Any afirmative action pushes a lot of people to push back becasue they were screwed....why should someone who was kept out of college to make way for a minority give those minorities a break when hiring time comes around....becasue they had the advantage he was denied.

Basicly Afirmative action causes many of the problems they are claiming it solves...along with alienating another generation.

Racism is still the same thing no matter how you dress it up. or what you call it. Its ugly.......

Here's the poster boy for "affirmative action."

George W. Bush should be asking himself, "Wait a minute. How did I get into Yale?"

It wasn't because of any academic achievement, his high school record was ordinary. It wasn't because of his life experience--prosperous family, fancy prep school, pretty standard for a future Yalie. It wasn't his SAT scores: 566 verbal and 640 math.

Bush clearly got in because of affirmative action. Affirmative action for the son and grandson of alumni. Affirmative action for a member of a politically influential family. Affirmative action for a boy from a fancy prep school. These forms of affirmative action still go on. Score another loss for "the best and brightest."

Compare racial favoritism with institutionalized favoritism based on social class or as specific as your high school, favoritism limited to recruitment and preparation, and so on. Opponents and supporters of affirmative action actually tend to agree that there is something bad, generally called quotas, and something good, generally called something like diversity.

Look around, at some point whites will be minorities. Let go and embrace it.
