Thanks guys, ( let us have the little despots)
I live here in the "free" state and love it. There is more to life than politics and even the politics provides some entertainment. If this topic ever got on the local talk shows, it would be fun listening to people blame our republican governor--in a state that is registered over 2:1 democrat and has had total power for decades. I've learned from the (dem) mayor of Baltimore that EVERY problem can be blamed on either Geo Bush, or the new repub govern. With the election of a repub governor we now experience legislative grid lock--hooray! ( they pass stuff; he vetoes most of it--sometimes they pass over his veto, but less new laws than previously, and no new taxes on income!) And the 90 day legislative session is nearly over---they can only really hurt us during those 90 days. You know, in a way, its sort of like living in the "off topic" thread from Benzworld. |
Update:
Well, I talked with my tax people today. First course of action they recommended was to just pay the money. If I don't and lose the appeal, I'll likely owe double the money by the time it all plays out. They also gave the impression that a battle like this is usually a loser for the taxpayer-- being me. Especially if I've already been sent letters by the state asking for the 51 cents. To tell the truth, I don't remember if I ever received any correspondance. If I did, I likley ignored it, after all, what significance could a paltry 51 cents have? I sent the check today and my tax people will send a letter to MD after April 15th asking for MERCY. Uh.... lesson learned the hard way. F the state of Maryland!!  |
