Any ophthalmologists on board?
If so, I have a question about eye pressure...... If not, I guess I don't.

Man I dunno all I know is they put an artificial lens in there so she didn't have to wear the pirate patch. They had to redo her surgery too.

Well that sucks -- and it's a hell of a lot worse than what I wanna ask about. A MIL with a pirate patch -- that's about as scary as life gets.

They took out the lens and her sutures stopped leaking. The pressure is exactly whre it should be. She sees fine now. This was exactly one week ago.

GS,
What kind of eye pressure question did you have?

Pressure is 14 in one eye and 21 in the other, both within the "normal" range, but my OD seemed alarmed at the difference between the two eyes. I also have a small, innocuous callous on the eye with the higher pressure -- the callous has been there for at least three years, and doesn't seem problematic. OD didn't consider that the callous related to the higher pressure, instead suggested thyroid disease or glaucoma. I just wonder if she isn't overreacting a bit...

GS,
Not an Opthy, but have had some very difficult personal experience. Eye pressure has always been in the 13-14 range. However after a bout with several issues from a cataract surgery gone bad, I was diagnosed with Glaucoma. Your 21 is on the High end of normal, and based on my experience, would not put off seeing a retinal specialist. In my case, can't imagine how long it might have taken to show up with never ending 13's and 14's.

Thanks for the feedback. She actually wasn't alarmed by the 21 in and of itself -- she was alarmed at the 7-point difference between the two eyes.

Well the cup ratio or something to that effect is much worse in one of my eyes, and that is why the retina specialist diagnosed the disease. So far have no visible (to me) loss in visual acuity, was hopefully caught in time. I would agree that the difference between the two eyes is probably significant.
