WinMX isn't working out for me anymore... what's the latest?
I've been using WinMX for about 2 years, and loved it, lately... can't seem to grab things successfully... anyone know what the latest/greatest place to be is?

I've tried DirectConnect... but to be honest, I can't figure it out (sad to admit!) -- if anyone has an easy-to-understand guide... that would be good, I try to search, but it says "search isn't working"
Thanks Again, Pete |

FYI:
eMule seems to be working well so far for me today... not as fast as WinMX back-when... but still, I'm getting my MP3s. |

Direct Connect and Bit Torrent are the two that I use. I used to download ~20 GB/ weekend but I've sort of slacked off. Now I mainly download more obscure films and TV shows e.g. Top Gear.
Try DC++ or RevConnect. The nice thing about RevConnect is it allows you to multiple sources. If there are enough sources I can finish a DVD in about 15-20 minutes. If you can connect to hubs but cannot search then you are either behind a firewall or NATd. In that case you have to open up the ports on your firewall or router (1411 if I remember but just look it up). Also some ISPs block Direct Connect so you may need to change the port to a higher number e.g. >30000. The firewall is turned on by default in WinXP Service Pack 2 so you may have a firewall without knowing it. http://www.revconnect.com/help.php?faq_nosearch |
