Talking "Six Feet Under"...Bye...Bye--something for fans & non-fans

Did anyone see the "Six Feet Under" burial on HBO last night ? Talk about a bring me down. I'm all for black humor, but that montage was a little much.

For those of you who did see it, here's a little laugh. For those non-fans, well...we could all use some cynical laughs.

I've watched it a few times. I usually sit in the next room and shake my head at the amount of f*** this and f*** that, that spews out of their mouths. I noticed its gotten increasingly worse. No big loss for me.

Talking

Ray, then your ears must REALLY burn when "Deadwood" is on.
Actually, I like that show. "Six Feet Under"...I dunno, maybe it was being on a Sunday before the kickoff of a work week, it always put me in a wierd state of mind. I know that death is always around us, so that means we should enjoy every sandwich if you know what I mean. What I found most annoying about the characters on "Six Feet Under" is that, basically, they had everything and yet they kept whining. Anyhow, just my thoughts!

I happen to have preteens, and at first we would shoo them from the room when those shows came on. Now they just sit there and watch it because, well we are just tired of censoring everything. A show should be able to deliver a powerful enough message without resorting to ridiculous levels of profanity, words by the way that we can't even use in this forum.

PS and I agree with the whining bit too.

Yes, that's why I'm a fan of "Deadwood". While some have blasted the "cuss-up a blue streak" lingo, David Milch, its creator, and a writer I admire, did his research. He poured over his share of period histories (not the dime store kind), letters and found that in 1870s Dakota terriroty there indeed was a bent toward the profane. But, yes, that one also isn't one for the tween set.
