I recall when he was running with Gore and I thought that the country would be better served by both tickets if the roles of each were traded. I'd have voted for Lieberman-Gore while I could never vote for Gore-Lieberman.

I voted libertarian.

You said it... couldn't agree more. But again, parties pick the guy with better "curb appeal," so the geeky guy can hope for a VP slot, at best.

...uh, Lieberman IS a republican--google DLC and bone up on their efforts to turn the dems part and parcel into a new and improved "republican-lite". Lieberman is in the vanguard of this smoke and mirrors masquerade. Vote freely for the sanctimonious jerk, he's one of you guys anyway. He was a huge part of why I couldn't possibly vote for Al Gore the corporate whore.

Would you prefer the New England colloquial "yous guys"? If it walks like a duck...

But you're right re: looks. I have a friend who thinks Rumsfeld is "hot" (no, I'm not kidding) and she is as liberal as the day is long. But he's "hot," so he gets a pass from at least one lib. Go figure.
People seem to be attracted to a guy like Rummy who does the "Damn the torpedos..." routine and just bulls ahead resolutely. Trouble is, sometimes caution is the wise choice and boldness suicidal.

One of my favorite old sayings: Discretion is the better part of valor.

I have a feeling Rummy isn't looking as sexy now that he's falling on his face on a regular basis.
