Not sure why people think that living a "simple" life is so horrible. It is just different from us. There are times when I think the stress of our lives is not worth the effort and that the aborigines or the recently discovered tribes in Africa have it so much easier. Is it such a benefit to have to work 8 or more hours a day, live in a chemical infested house in a chemical infested city, having to drive on pollution infested roads, eating chemically infesting food … ? Not so certain the native americans with their lean-toos (sp) did not have the right idea.

Believe me David part of my post was meant in jest and part was meant to ponder. As far as the wars between us go, before we came here they had their own inter-tribal wars and killed each other. Man's inhumanity to mankind was their problem too. The tribes up here still have their rivalries. As far as the simpler life goes there are two sides of the coin. Yes it would be nice to have way less stress like they had but would you give up such things as modern medicine and have to rely on some witch doctor? When it comes to my health I'll take proven science before some shaman blowing smoke to the four winds.

I do appreciate the modern things but I do sometimes wonder what it would have been like to live in North America before the white man came - just some open ponderings I suppose

I know about the tribal conflicts but somehow it seems different (at least in my mind) than the Europeans coming in and doing what we did. Cannot quite put it into words but somehow I sense a difference (I could be wrong).

As far as medicine is concerned, I seem to recall a show on NGC or Discovery about doctors and scientists going to south america and africa to talk to their tribal healers about the medicine that they use since in some cases apparently, it works far better than the stuff we have. Yes, statically more of our stuff works, but sometimes, simple is better.

I kind of figured as much with the "jest and ponder". You seem quite level headed and the post seemed a bit out of character.
