I was hoping you gamers would have some suggestions I like to play first person shooter games and my son who is 4 likes car driving games. In the future I will probably buy a steering wheel set up for him. It also needs to have the ability to play online. Got any suggestions and why. thanks in advance guys

I've never owned an x-box before, but they seem to have more and better shooters. I own a ps2 and the library of games available is HUGE.

If most of the original XBox games appeal to his age group, you can't go wrong buying a used XBox (not 360) on eBay.
Since the new XBox 360 came out, everyone wants one. There are a ton of original XBoxes around and they all come with extra controllers, memory, and a bunch of games. Neal

the xbox 360 is the newest hottest console right now.
But it is not without its initial release problems. several reports have been that the units were defective. Do a search on google on xbox 360 recall. That being said, it is in high demand.and a nice system. I don't have one yet because I am waiting for the initial problems to subside and for microsoft to work out the bugs. then I am waiting for the price to stabilize. some people have spent over $3000 just to get one, when the most it should cost is like $500 or $600 for the fully loaded model.

I would also concur on the original XBox as well.
While not shopping for one, I ended up getting the XBox on launch date when a clerk offered one of two that were on hold for preorders, but the buyers never showed...since then, the price had dropped by 50% and included games (not even offered with mine when purchased). Lesson learned: Don't scramble to get the newest offerings until it gets a chance to mature...prices will come down!

I have an Xbox 360, and the piece of **** will overheat just siting on top of the TV. The graphics are truly amazing, but it isnt worth the price, as they are super buggy.
IMHO get an xbox, as they have just released the 360, and the prices of the games and the addons are coming down.

I bought my original X-box at Costco a few years ago for a good price. It included some games and an extra controller.
I would highly recommend Forza Motorsport (Just picked this one up for $29.99 at BestBuy) and Splinter Cell. Both can be played on X-box Live as well. |

Like I said the xbox 360 is a great unit but it has initial release problems which is why I will wait until they ahve worked it out and the price has come down before I buy one.

i love my gamecube, the old ps2's are junk, the lasers are defective, and for all i know they still are. the xbox is a good console, and the new 360 looks pretty good, even with a mac (ibm) processor. the ps3 looks wierd, but the one i'm waiting for is the nentendo revolutions, it looks awesome, and the graphics look great!!! but thats just me, nintendo all the way.

Looking forward to The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Revolution is going to utitlize a gyroscopic wireless remote that should allow for semi-virtual realistic environments. Though, the NES had peripherals like this almost 20 years ago with the PowerPad, the PowerGlove, etc. I used to have the PowerPad, and I stayed thin by stomping in place as a little boy, trying to run and jump through the game(as I physically ran and jumped). It was a lot of fun, believe it or not.

Still, both units get about equal playing time, and the odds of finding a particular "used" title effectively doubles...
