Your suggestion that the phone would be the (unintended) recipient's rightful property is simply bogus. Do you really think it's the same thing as keeping unsolicited merchandise that a company intentionally addressed and delivered to you?

If I find it on my doorstep its mine.....who signed for it? But if they say the never delivered anything to my house after a phone call then its mine...

I'm convinced it's a hack. Nobody would UPS a telephone to the former homeowner's house (it's been 2+ years since they moved) unless they wanted to intercept it and pick it up.

hey...I have better things to do than chase down items that were addressed to my house in someone elses name...

I stopped doing that a couple years ago...I get a lot of crap 9 years after these people left when I bought my house......if it has MY address on it, if I can use it I keep it, otherwise to goes in the trash these days...they had 9 years to get their affairs in order...
