Well, golly, I'm not busting on you at all about what you do with mail that's still incorrectly addressed 9 years after the previous residents have moved. It sounds as though you've acquitted yourself admirably there. Good for you!

Maybe you missed this, so I'll try again:

Your suggestion that the phone would be the (unintended) recipient's rightful property is simply bogus. Do you really think it's the same thing as keeping unsolicited merchandise that a company intentionally addressed and delivered to you?

If I find it on my doorstep its mine.....who signed for it? But if they say the never delivered anything to my house after a phone call then its mine...

I'm convinced it's a hack. Nobody would UPS a telephone to the former homeowner's house (it's been 2+ years since they moved) unless they wanted to intercept it and pick it up.

(Cough Cough) You cant do anything with a blacklisted phone (cough cough)

If it is reported stolen, you cant even hack it to get freebies. I say return it and avoid any problems that may come your way.

Thanks for sharing that little tidbit!

It moves things from "maybe an honest goof up" to "something stinks".

I stopped doing that a couple years ago...I get a lot of crap 9 years after these people left when I bought my house......if it has MY address on it, if I can use it I keep it, otherwise to goes in the trash these days...they had 9 years to get their affairs in order...
