physics midterm project

hey everyone,

im takin high school physics and we have a midterm project instead of an exam and shes informed us that we are to make a physics "news cast/new segment" and itendify physics concepts in video footage. Each student has a different amount of conecetps to identify, determined by a collection of quiz grades, I have 6.

I figured I would do something with MB's. I was thinkin somthing about thet physics of a car crash test. i found a vid on w123 crash tests. I also have that Faszination vid there are some worthy footages there. I'd cover 3 concepts there.

I'd do a second segment somehow involving the clips from teamrwd and other racing style MB clips.

Right now I'm lookin for higher quality clips....if anyone has any or any ideas they want to add to my project..I'd appreciate the info..

thanks

kris

That is a pretty ambitious project! MIT does a lot regarding the physics of a car crash--may check and see if there are any research papers out there on the net. I would search for the same at CalTech, Ga. Tech, Michigan, ect......there has to be hundreds of college papers on the subject that would probably include video attachments. Remember, if you use someone elses' footage or quote from their paper you must cite them properly or possibly get permission. Good luck!

I recall that one of my high school physics projects involved answering the age old question, if you drop a bullet straight down and fire one simultaneously from a gun, which hits the ground faster? I did get an A.....

You could also do the physics of winter driving and some of the myths people have about 4-wheel drive.

As for the bullet drop question, as long as neither bullet changes shape and they're both fired straight down the fired one will definitely hit the ground first. Did I miss something?

this project is very very simple. nothing that would even cause an MIT applicant to flinch. just pretty basic, show basic concept in video and define. simple concept like :elastic colision, inelastic...accelleration, free fall etc etc..
