Question How do I remove WinFixer from my PC???

I don't know how it got here, but There is a WinFixer 2006 pop up on my PC that pops up everytime I open a browser. It is in my "accesories" and Add remove programs, but when I try to uninstall, a message shows that it can't uninstall.

Does ANYONE here know how I can uninstall this software???
Ever since it came on, My browser speed has been reallly slowed .

Microsoft's website offers a download that might help - sorry, can't recall the precise name but you should be able to identify it fairly easily. I finally got so tired of all the crap that I mustered the courage (for about the 10th time in the last 10 years) to approach the War Department again in an effort to convince her that a return to Mac was genuinely our best option. You might even be able to detect my virtual grin from ear-to-ear as I sit here typing this on my new G5, the (modern) W126 of home computers.

I had this one also. BUT my computer would not load in the safe mode. So I had to reinstall windows after formatting the hard drive.

What windows are you using??

If XP, download Microsoft Anti Spy, and it will reset your browser setting back to when you bought the computer.

Also, it is some pretty potent stuff, and it does a fairly good job of keeping spyware on my puter to a minimum.

MS Anti-spyware link

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=321cd7a2-6a57-4c57-a8bd-dbf62eda9671&displaylang=en

Download 'Microsoft Anti-Spyware Beta' and install it. When it asks you if you'd like to run a spyware scan, do so.

Next time, buy a Mac. Windows Pee-Cees come pre-broken from the factory.

cheers,

Read the thread that I posted to and then check out the site it is posted on. Run some searches. If that is not enough then post there and ask for help. Good luck.

A program called Hijackthis can also be very useful; although it's best if you run it when you get a brand new pc (save findings to a log) and then after you install a new program (save findings to a log). This way, you get used to what you have and if something "new" pops up, and you haven't installed anything lately, you can get rid of it. (you are able to "put it back" if something goes awry).

Were you able to eradicate the spyware? If not apparently Ad-Aware will remove it. That's free through downloads.com
