Bitter Americans

Why are people so bitter? It can't be too healthy to go through life pissed off about everything. I personally don't give a crap who's president, or what Micheal Moore did today. As long as I'm alive it's a pretty good day. I kiss the kids on my way to work in the morning and strive to make that day as short and productive as possible so I can get home and hear them welcome me when I come in the door....that's it.

Lighten up and enjoy life a bit you need to realize that most people don't give a crap if your having a bad day, year or life. The biggest difference is sane people can be pissed for about 30 seconds while unbalanced people are pissed all day.

MedMech,

If I wouldn't know any better, I'd say you came to FL for a week or two, and met some of our senior residents. What a grumpy bunch most of them are.
(Maybe it's because they didn't show up at the local McD's early enough and couldn't get a seat?) In case anybody didn't know...the old folks will beat the employees to the front door in the a.m. (Freaks).

If you're not pissed, you're not paying attention...I'm just paying attention.

See, that's what I'm saying. They're over-oxidized by free-radicals.

Yea. All this animosity toward our president reminds me of something... Oh yea, it's how the far right felt about Clinton!

I agree, but what I thing Med's saying is that occasionally, it is healthful to withdraw from animosity and live life. You and I know that this is better done without TV.

Ed Zachery!

In all things presidential, there will be an end and nothing any one of them does is immune to the successor's undoing.

I didn't care for Clinton and still don't but I never dwelled on it, When Bush I and Dole conceded I said "this sucks" and went on with the day and left it at that.

even if the glass is empty it's still half full to me, until the sun stops rising the next day will always be better than the last IMO. My philosophy is if I can't kill me it can't hurt me, we have brains that should be used to work through problems instead of *****ing and moaning all day. It's a love and balance thing.

I think the reason some people are so bitter is because they are so negative that they eventually alienate themselves from the mainstream of the happy society and the fellow bitters attract to each other like flys on crap.

From my OSB-sided shack in the woods...

You're beginning to sound like a certain recently deceased cetacean.

I pay attention, and take notes, but nobody with authority has asked me for my solutions, and if I gave them, they would not or could not act on them, so I go on about living my life as if it does not matter.

"This too shall pass."

I've thought about the question for 24 hours and can't decide if your statement is relevant to your compatriots on the forum........or is relevant to your interactions with other people in the street.

If it's the former, you've clearly misinterpreted most of the members here. Just because they disagree with you and the administration does not make them bitter. They might be dissatisfied with the state of affairs in their personal lives and with the state of affairs of the country in general but, my belief is that they are far from "bitter", to use your characterization.

Now, if it's the latter, you're confusing "bitter" with "angry". Many folks have a very difficult life. Unlike yourself, they don't earn $200K per year and they don't have the life changing decision of which Ferrari to purchase. Many have to juggle the demands of earning money........many times in a job that is not satisfying, maintaining a residence, purchasing and maintaining their "stuff", raising children, etc. The lifestyle that is portrayed by the media is generally out of reach for most of these folks and their vision of the life that they should be leading conflicts with the life that they currently have. So, they get a bit overwhelmed. If this behavior and thought process continues long enough, and their work and home environment provides little emotional support, over time they become angry and withdrawn.

So, if you characterize these folks as "bitter", you ought to take a look at their lives from their perspective before you judge them. Now, you might find that they have no good reason to be "bitter" other than greater expectations than can possibly be met with the employment and marriage that they currently have. And, in typical MedMech fasion, you'll blame them for this and complain on here how they should not "feel" this way.

One day, you'll realize that they are not always able to change their lives to become the happy person that you claim to be..........then again.......maybe you won't.

I've known a great many people who barely get by and are never bitter. And I've known them with money who are miserable.

A person makes a choice in how he handles things. Like MM said, you can be upset about something and get over it and move on, or be pissed all day. Life's too short to be upset all the time.
