Our creator is free to rescind that choice, otherwise, it wouldn't be a free, unobliged choice on their part. The only point at which our dependency on their will is transcended is when someone other than the creator can be the substitute for the will of the creator. Hence, abortion up to the point of viability outside the womb is a permissible act rooted in either divine freedom and/or the free choice of the mother.

I was hoping to never see a post about anything to do with any of this...I will make no comment, on the subject.

Does a good job of explaining why adult stem cells should be used as opposed to embryonic stem cells. The author makes a valid point in referring to the fact that adult stem cells have already been used for therapeutic means as opposed to embryonic stem cells. The author also points out that though it was commonly believed that adult stem cells are limited in their abilities, recent research shows adult stem cells are capable, if not better, than embryonic stem cells.

I think the stem cell debate comes down to the discussion about abortion. Pro-choice activists see this as an opportunity to train us all to believe that a blastocyst is not in fact a human being. Pro-life activists see this as one more place to assert the humanity of a blastocyst. I find it interesting though that no one really knows much about the topic in general, let alone the proven ability of adult stem cells which have already been used therapeutically. Once again, it has nothing to do with research, just two sides entering another facet of the abortion debate.

Thanks
David
From his article: Embryonic stem cells have not YET been used for even one therapy,....

Lets take that time machine trip back 300 years. What would people then say about oil? How about that moldy stuff? Just because we have YET to find a use, doesn't mean we won't. However, if we stop trying to find a use, I can guarantee that we won't unless we stumble into it with plain blind luck.

As to abortion, since it is unproven because we cannot agree on a definite means of saying when it is alive or not, why not leave it up to the person concerned?

Dunno. Ask the creator then.

When the great doctor can show me the soul, I'll believe him/her/it.

Quite fascinating the answers regarding this unwanted parenthood.

I could write a novel about my own "parenthood"fortunately circumstances have ordained otherwise, call me a bastard, call me an illegitemate spawn of an uncaring member of the Almanach De Gotha. And let's leave it at that.

You can get as philosophical as you want. Its pointless. No MAN has ANY right to vote, or otherwise have ANY input or influence on the topic of abortion. We don't have babies. Its not our bodies we are discussing the control of. Imagine a situation where a government, etc. could order control over a mans body for a period of 9 months. Preposterous. Simply would not happen. Its akin to slavery. What women choose to do with their reproductive capability is ultimately theirs. If you believe that this is wrong for moral/religious reasons then fine. Believe it. And maybe those women will be judged when they meet the creator, etc. Thats not your friggen business, so butt out with the judgements. Let the women decide. RT

yep. before it was legal here, rich people flew their kids to england for them and poor folks did it themselves with coat hangers. so, while i cannot imagine ever wanting a daughter of mine to get one, i want her to have the choice.

the vast majority of folks believe that some abortions are reasonable. there is a lot of disagreement as to what is reasonable. a few fanatics think all abortions should be (legal or illegal, take your pick).

my $.02.

With the way Rov V Wade come out, it would be very difficult to overturn abortion altogether. A better strategy would be to chip away till very little is left then you can easily bring it down.

As was said, it is a woman's body we are talking about. I'd say it is akin to me letting someone into my house on a cold winter day. Lets say that there is no hope of the guy getting help if he had to leave and I invited him in. Later on, I found that he is a child molester, black, Jewish, etc, etc. I may decide that I don't want somebody like that in my house. I should have the right to eject him even if it means he probably won't survive the night outside. My house, my rules. Don't like it? Set up your own. Can't? Too bad.

Do you believe that you have no right to intervene in any event over which you do not exercise direct control or is it just this one event?

Do I have the right to say who stays in your house or who goes? What about your car or boat? If we go out to the middle of the lake and have an argument and you want me out of the boat right there and then, it is your boat. Should anyone else have the right to insist that you take me back to shore or to a place of my preference? I think not.
