Kanye West is at it again....

Boy, this one's gonna' pi$$ some people off!.... Check out the new Rolling Stone cover photo.

http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/9183008/kanye_west_world/

It's a time-tested technique: Controversy sells records.

Don't misunderstand: It's not that I'm at all sensitive about "sacriligious" images... Quite the contrary. I think it's pretty amusing that some folks get their panties in such a terrible wad over such things.

What really irritates me is that, even though he is an astoundingly arrogant, race-baiting, babbling idiot much of the time.... he is also that rarest of rare things in the music world: A hip-hop artist with actual talent!

Go figure.

Mike

Why would that piss anyone off? Fashionable headgear has become so hard to come by these days--he's just mining history for stylish examples.

Part of the downside of BEING a dumba$$ is that they usually do not REALIZE that they are dumba$$es.

No, he's just "OFF his rocker". And so are the people at Rolling Stone magazine... and they have been so for a long time.

My darling step-daugher is on the pom squad at the local high school and they did a half-time routine to this guy's song "Gold digger". Unfortunately there's a line with a word in it that rhymes with digger...the word isn't said in the version they played, but it didn't take a genius to know what he was saying. We live in a semi-rural area, but it's not lilly-white and some people really got offended. I had to ask why they ever chose a song ike that in the first place...the coach is a twit apparently.

Who got offended?

It's surprising that the black people would be offended, because Kanye is one of their own, and young black people have adopted the dreaded "n-word" as a synonym for "friend" or "buddy" or "bro" or whatever.

It's also surprising that the white people would be offended, because....well, they're white.

Seriously, given the lyrical content, it probably was not the best choice in music for young students to perform to. A pretty stupid lapse in judgement by the coach, as you already pointed out....

Never underestimate the propensity that people have for being offended by somebody else.

Truth is...a WHOLE LOT of African-Americans "fill in the blank" upon hearing the edited version...and giggle amongst themselves. We also know that de white folk do the same...

...so we all chuckle amongst ourselves when in our respective racial huddles, but scream "outrage" when it goes public...

...but I agree...it was inappropriate for a school function.
