Let me see, nationalist, moralistic, believer in the supremacy of white European culture, militaristic, anti-gay, anti-Israel and in favor of the working man, but not a Fascist because he doesn't label himself one? Perhaps. He's not quite Green enough.

What is it about a self-proclaimed "Marxist" (whatever that means) that makes them suspect or somehow not fit to teach? Could a "Marxist" not successfully teach molecular biology, economics, poly-sci, taxidermy, dress-making, or anything? If not, why?

I see, the "Vast right wing conspiracy". That pretty much covers all bases.

Palangi, I have no idea what you're talking about. What do you think a "Marxist" is, and why are they not fit to teach?

Yes, that's all fascinating and inspiring, but what does any of it have to do with someone's qualifications to teach?

But why do you think they are inappropriate as teachers?

They're frickin commie revolutionaries for Chrissakes. Why is that so hard to understand? Some of the perfessers in that book actually declared war on the United States, Bernardine Dohrn, for example. Her sister had her clothes blown off when their bomb factory blew up. William Ayers (Dohrns hubby, also in the book) says he doesn't regret making bombs and committing other terrorist activities. These people and their associates were bank robbers, bombers, cop killers, etc. I absolutely despise these people. I can't imagine what kind of fools think these people should be allowed to hold teaching positions.

Google a few random names out of that book and see for yourselves what kind of vile scum some of these people are.

So you're saying there should be some kind of decision making body that decides what work a person does. You think we need a centralized body or bureau, if you will, that could make these decisions. A bureau that could make important decisions based on an individuals politics. A political bureau. Perhaps we should call it a politbeuro?

You want a politbeuro? Commie!

Thanks for explaining. I guess there actually are folks out there who’s fears create credibility I claimed as facile. But in addition to reading books such as this, folk would learn far more by trying to see beyond the fabric of slanted BS and outright lies they were brought up to believe as true, if only to broaden their perspective. Evidentially a lot of folk just want to be told that what they believe is all that is "proper."

I have never come across a professor who couldn’t competently describe any number of sides to any issue within their field. I couldn’t imagine the university education system as it exists permitting many folk who lack the training and skills to do the same. For myself, I demand as much diversity in education as I can find.

It's a funny thing that you guys bring up this topic. Just yesterday, we were learning about Karl Marx and the professor was basically bashing him. She was saying how he was a psycho and that his ideas would never work. Afterwards she asked the class: "Does anybody think that Marxism would work in the USA, and if so please share with us". I raised my hand and commented somewhere along these lines: "Thank God he's dead, I can't imagine living in a socialist society"

One more thing, I would say that about 75% of the class is not interested in this type of crap. Many college students I speak to don't know the difference between a Republican or a Democrat so I let them know what spineless weasels Liberals are and they usually start liking the Republicans. This is how gullible these college students seem to be so I try to talk to as many people as possible. Preach, preach, preach...

Kamil
