It does, power is vested in the majority in each state. The same way you elect governors, senators, HR, dog catcher etc.

One thing that needs to change is the bias of the media prior to an election.

We all know that the liberal media helped the kerry crew prior to the election.
they let him run his pro-gun lie campaigns touting himself as a pro- second ammendment hero while NRA members such as myself were ready to punch my fist through the television screen knowing all too well that this bastard is one of the most anti-gun politicians in the history of the united states.
he does not give a rats ass about hunters, or law abiding gun owners and barely supported any measure to punish criminals who misuse firearms during crimes, or make it harder to keep criminals from commiting crimes, but he sure did support all kinds of gun bans that did nothing but make it harder for law abiding gun owners to keep and obtain certain weapons thus infringing upon our constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
hell, he even supported measures to ban the semi automatic shotgun that he recieved as a gift from pro gun union members at a political rally during his campaign as well as the ban of one of the shotguns he took on one of his little "hunts" in front of the camera.
thats the kind of lies that need to be adressed here so the public that gets their news from the television only can see some good truthful, unbiased reporting instead of the puppet show that we see so regulary from our "esteemed media".
You can only have a fair vote if the information that is put out there is accurate, and there should be laws made that hold politicians accountable if they tell lies during campaigns, and while in office.
Kerry hoodwinked alot of gun owners who got their information from the television only.
Thank God that I joined the NRA and listen to talk radio, or I too, may have been fooled.

You do not have a Constitutional right to own a gun.

Amendment 2 of the US Constitution:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

That is quoted verbatim.

I hope we regulate that militia sometime soon, and do it well.

So maybe the Iowa National Guard could keep their weapons at home, or maybe counties or even cities could form Militia's that woluld allow weapons to be kept at home? Cool, we need a neighborhood Militia.

As far as I know, they do keep some of their weapons at home, but they have to sign out the bigger stuff, in case Minnesota attacks.

We do. For the most part they performed admirably during Katrina and continue to do so for other natural disasters.

Wrong.

The Second Amendment (which IS part of the Constitution, as indicated by the self-explanatory term "constitutional amendment") quite clearly defines it.

Perhaps you should brush up on it.

My daughter has been in Baghdad now for about 18 months with KBR and would second that. She says that they're for the most part not that prepared for what they're into over there though. I have not seen a break down of % of regulars vs. NG's attrition rate, but from her feedback it seems the Guard is just being thrown rather haphazardly into the *****. Not meaning to take anything away from them. Just that they maybe in the breach without the skills.

That's a good point and it maybe a good reason to adjust the poll times such that they open at different times but close at the same time.

For example, maybe open Maine's polls at 10:00AM and keep then open until 10:00PM. (ET)
Open polls in Chicago at 9:00 AM and close them at 9:00PM
Open Polls in Boulder at 8:00AM and close them 8:00PM

etc.

That way they would all open at the same moment and close at the same moment and be open for the same length of time.

That would allow Pearl Harbor to have the same precinct important as Portland, ME.

An excellent idea.

For a number of years, I've wondered why they don't do that. Everyone should be voting during the same actual hours, regardless of time zones. It would prevent media coverage of the east coast's "early results" from influencing late voters on the west coast.

Of course if we made that change, then SOMEBODY would whine that they were "disenfranchised" because of poll hours that were too early or too late.
