I am familiar with the school because I have a home near Va. Beach, but have never run into a practicing lawyer that graduated from there. I am curious what happens to those folks. It may be a stepping stone to a better school, ie: Thomas Cooley in Michigan which is not ABA accredited, but if you make a good first year there a lot of schools will accept transfer.

Have any of you lawyers encountered any practicing alumnis from UW or Seattle University? Those are the only two schools within logistical reach for me to attend here in Warshington. Can an older family gent like me realistically carry the workload AND hold down a job? I don't have any GPA stats to rely upon, since both my undergrad and grad school classes didn't use traditional grading systems.

My wife had a company and went to law school at night. So did my best friend. Don't know any Wash lawyers but I understand they are all stoned so it shouldn't be too tough.

I'm assuming a lot of them take jobs with right wing religious institutions. I've been trying to convince my nephew that attending Regent will put a serious dent in his career prospects. Do you think that's true?

What's really fun is whooping the pants off of a Harvard, Stanford, or other "top tier" law school graduate at trial. Then when they appeal, winning the appeal and knowing your name is going to live forever in West Publications. For that brief period, it makes the difference in pay somewhat acceptable.

Not knocking it, but it was not accredited when I was in law school. We had two students go there for a year so that they could transfer to an accredited law school. For all I know, they may be accredited now.

Never encountered any WA lawyers either, but knew pleanty of people who did what you propose. I think that would be a personal thing--I wouldn't/couldn't have done it.

Yes, unless he just goes out on his own after he passes the Bar.

Do you know anyone that wants to work with a religious whack job? I'm not saying that he is but that's the first thing someone looking at his CV is going to think. It's tough enough going to a school that's not respected, but to go to one that pigeonholes you, I imagine, would be the kiss of death.

A lawyers judgement is his stock in trade. I think a lot of people would (certainly me) would look at that choice as being poor judgement.

Just what I told him. But it's hard to convince a religious whack job.
