Snobby customer.

I have to share this with you guys.

About a year ago, My brother in law and I were installing some aftermarket radar/laser diffuser equipment in a womans car at her huge home in a very affluent part of Atlanta.

The car was an s-500.
She also had a G-500 in the garage and was asking us tons of questions how this and that worked on both vehicles.
She had owned both cars for over a year and still did not know much about the vehicles operations.
Under normal circumstances, we would not have minded answering any questions, but this woman acted like Queen Elizabeth, and treated us like we were the scum on the bottom of her shoe, very verbally belittling, and it was starting to get on our nerves.

She told us that she had to trade her black G-500 in because some guy at the filling station said "Nice truck!"
It upset her so much that she traded it in for a brilliant silver model that very day.
So after more belittling and self righteousness, she finally went inside and let us finish installing the equipment.

So when it was time to leave, I just could not help myself, and the last thing I said to her was "I really like your silver truck!".
Her face dropped, and it almost took a few seconds to realize what she just heard.
Her eyes got huge and she stood there with a puzzled look on her face as we drove away.
My brother in law, said "I can't believe you said that" as he laughed his ass off.
We did not care if SHE never called us for anything again.

OH I can tell some stories when I was in a temp job after the company I was working for went into liquidation.

Basicly the classic drill sergant rant....told the guy is he didn't shut up and act respectful towards the woman he was putting down I was going to rip his head off and poop down his throat. And that never mind I would go get store manager for him.........who proceded to toss the man out of the store and told him if he returned with that attitude the police would be called the next time.


THe man claimed to be a CEO of someplace I don't remember. I told him big deal, that makes him no better than anyone else. Shut up and act civilized.

The caste system is alive and well in America. I work with patients who have way too much money and this "entitled" attitude and every now and then get tired of it and give it right back to them. Then I get my butt dragged into the boss' office for "the speech" and have to remind him that I don't have "Welcome" etched on my back and that I am the only one in the tri-state area who does what I do for a living and I don't care how much money these people have even an amoeba has a purpose.

it is rooted in insecurity. I've been treated that way. Initially I would be offended, but with further pondering, resolved that these folks are simply adult replicas of the schoolyard versions we all experienced as children. These individuals never did advance beyond such a primitive mentality. At this point, the fiend in me is content to watch the show as they display unchecked childish behavior as adults for all to see. It's analogous to walking around unaware that one's privates exposed for all to see.

PS Searched and got this:

A Laser Diffuser acquires a laser gun or laser van, it immediately returns a five second signal, gives the driver a visual warning, and emits an audible alert in the vehicle.

For this time, the laser gun’s display will not produce a speed reading, leaving enough time for the driver to check, and if necessary adjust, vehicle speed safely.

After five seconds, the laser diode shuts down, and the diffuser acts as a passive detector for the next 60 seconds while you clear the laser speed trap.

Jerks are Jerks you have to deal with them from time to time. People like that used to bother me, but now I just pretty much ignore it. Not worth my time to let it bother me.

Although the truck comment was pretty smooth, good one!

well what led up ti the incident I talked about was this man was verbally abusing the customer service rep....who was a rather robust black woman and single mom. The things he said were never acceptible and extremely rude. He was a fat short white guy with a god complex based on his behaviour....this woman needed her job and I was in the service Dept on a day to day basis....I had little to lose, and besides I never supported the sort of racial comments that was coming out of that jerks mouth.


Incidently I have walked out of several customers offices for being simularly abusive at my current job. Company policy does not require I endure that sort of abuse. Nor will I.

There are a few variables for me. When I worked Cust Svcs I usually let it roll of my back. You want to talk ill of my mother? Knock your self out. The only thing that would really get me going is racial/ethnic/religious comments. If I am a customer and I see another patron being a prick either being rude or making any comments referring to religion .. etc. then I will step and say something. I have nothing to loose so why not. People need to be told that that their actions can effect others. By remaining silent we tacitly condone their actions.

There is a quote in the Holocaust museum in Washington DC that has been quoted many times before but it goes like this:

because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists

To me the bottom line is if we do not speak out when we see someone belittling another, one day it may be us and no one will speak on our behalf.

I had to be nice about it, but also had to say it, it just came out without thinking.

I'm usually very nice and treat everyone with great respect.

For instance, just today, I removed an aftermarket phone integration out of a 4-matic E-430.

I had to tear the whole dash apart, glove box, right underdash, command unit, a'c pushbuttons, cneterconsole, instrument cluster, drivers side a-pillar and door sill plates all the way to the inner trunk panel, just to remove all the wires and components without cutting anything so it could be installed in another car.
it was a 100 mile round trip, and after putting the car togehter I decided not to charge him a dime for the job because I felt so bad for the guy because he just spent over $7000.00 dollars getting his transmission rebuilt and trans control unit and wiring replaced because it wicked trans fluid into the computer through the wiring and his trans was in bad shape mechanically.
He has been a good repeat customer and I felt for him.
He is selling the car and moving to California due to job requirements.
That may give you an indication about what kind of a guy I am.
I could have charged him $200.00 plus travel, but I had a soft spot develop for this poor guy.
He is a wounded war veteran, semi retired and misses his family and most of his buddies have passed on.

I will go out of my way to help someone in need, but will not hesitate to put someone in their place if need be.

BTW, my daughters ARE safe. I am a prosecutor, my brother is a cop and I have literally dozens of friends in law enforcement. All mean looking HOMBRES. My daughters never had any problems gorwing up.
