190E as a daily driver?

I'm soon replacing my Ford Contour (yes, I know...) with a new DD. I've always loved the old Mercs from the early 90's and since I must have an aftermarket stereo the car has to have a solid interior resistant to rattles. Just wondering what the odds are that the 190E (or any E class) would make a decent daily driver in upstate NY. FYI - we salt the roads like crazy up here. My default choice was a Toyota Avalon.

My summer car is a '96 Impala SS.

Also bear in mind that the Avalon is a bit fresher, and in theory, less expensive to operate. Anyone in your area that knows how to repair/service older MB's?
Yeah there's a one or two independent garages that service german cars. I suppose the Toyota would be a better option for reliability.

If you want a cheap to maintian car get the Toyota, MB's are not built for low maintiance, and are not cheap to keep on the road in good shape.

But if you want a MB a 1994-95 E320 would be a splended choice.
