Yep no surprise there, I make so secret of my support for GW and the Rep party. If anything they are too liberal in some areas for my tastes. GW spends like a liberal, that annoys the heck out of me.

He's a mod.

He supports GW.

Most of the political threads here are not very "happy happy" for GW. The outlook for him isn't getting much brighter.

I give Hatt credit for at least being honest and saying, "Look I like the guy, so no more talking about him." At least we know where he's coming from.

:)

Hey, it's not everyday that Cheney can shoot a lawyer in the face. :D

I make it a point to let everyone know where I am coming from.

But guess who stuck all the Bush hating threads...

I like the other sides point of view, however both points need to be taken in moderation. I dislike extremists from both party's.

I couldn't agree more. Just curious, what is it about GW that you find moderate?

Point goes to you for asking what I was thinking...

"Moderate" and "GW" in the same zipcode seems odd.

I've been saying political threads have been a boring waste of time for so long. People just say the same garbage. But if you take away political threads, BHD will have no life.

would it be different if he were making these changes and didn't support Bush?

Is your allegation that his bias and these actions are in some way intolerant?

Have you read the new rules?

Hey...how about I pipe in and force this thread's early closure.

The current batch of mods are by far the best we’ve had in OD.

There is no problem with political discussion. What has happened in the last few days was an increasingly inflammatory posture taken by a couple of members, and others spread that posturing into other threads.

While we generally agree to disagree, when we become too stubborn to grant respect to a reasonable if opposing comment, then the transition between debate and insult is pretty quick. I suggest that if someone really only wants to use the forum as a place to toss insults, then perhaps a few days of r&r is in order. We are all familiar with each other's views, in several cases reaching back over 7 years. Most here know one or two (or more) topics that are all but guaranteed to get a response out of selected other members. But making the same points grow tiresome even when presented by the most illustrious writer. So mix it up.

Encourage variety by the topics you present. If all that is important in your life is what is going on in DC or Iraq, I don’t know what to say except that life offers far more. While commentary about topics which we can do little or nothing to change has a definite cathartic value, it is easy to cross the line between gaining a therapeutic value from sharing the exasperation that has come to characterize politics, to just being exasperating by continually asserting a well worn point. The point doesn’t loose it’s value, but can become an irritant when mentioned too often. If you wanna put on the flame suit and bonk politics until your fingers are sore, there is always Benzworld, which from what I hear has many bright members, and very little to no moderation.

PS: The babe in front of that SL sure has a purdy smile....

George Bush is the Anti-Christ?

If that thread is not a case and point why the mods finally shook things up I don't know what is. There is always benzwhirled for you misfits.

This thread is a roller coaster....

Jessica Alba....very hawt! Anyway, just thought I would toss a different log onto the fire....and a totally new interest coming to light for me:

Art Collecting.

We bought our first real "piece of art" this weekend (defined by me as anything original and over $500 - or, if you can Google the artist and the name comes up). The experience was really something I did not expect....I actually enjoyed it immensely.

Any others here pick up the occasional piece? Dabble in purchasing or selling?

Don't collect but I paint. Usually landscapes which is about as unsurprising as breathing since landscape analysis is what I do for a living. But the thing about landscape painting is it allows me to explore a dimension of insight and expression that is not easily expressed in GIS. Also my painting is from a diffrent perspective from my work which also makes it interesting to me. I have been toying with the idea of going into more emotionally invested subject but still within the landscape theme. The difficulty in transition for me is two-fold: First, my training and interest is to set aside emotional investment to do a job; and second, emotion (IMO) requires transitions or revelations of some sort. I cannot seem to get a good grasp of how to do that without drawing a cartoonish study.
