They regularly fish stones out as well this way. In your case they might put you to sleep. The first responsibility of medicine is to remove or eliminate pain when possible.
Have they given you any time frame where they might intervene? Too much pain over too long of a time frame can become unbearable. Or when do you become a candidate for the sonic bath?
