Should Pot be Decriminalized?

I think if alcohol is considered acceptable in moderation, so should pot. It certainly is not as intoxicating as booze, and I think it has alot of stress relieving effects, as well as medicinal value for many ailments.

Sign over the licensing to a major pharmaceutical company, and it'll happen in no time.

Should pot be decriminalized? Of course. Will it happen in America any time soon? Of course not. Too many politicians get to expand their powers and too many people are getting rich off the War on (Some) Drugs.

Some polls show that over 80% of americans think that pot should be legalized but our elected officials think otherwise.

Big money corporations aren't lobbying for it.

F**k statistics.

Why does the gov get to say what you put in your body? It's your body, not theirs. Want to smoke weed and eat Twinkies? Fine with me, but you better have a job because I ain't supporting your pot & Twinkie, and your sorry Nintendo butt.

In the libertarian boat we say, ...

"Roe, Roe, Roe your vote gently forge a dream, verily, verily verily I say, life is should be more serene."

No -- clue me in. I was actually thinking about the recent finding of "no medicinal value" and the obvious reasons behind that ridiculous conclusion.

There are a whole bunch of drugs out there that would have met the same fate without pharmaceutical companies lobbying for big paychecks by whatever means necessary, including inventing 'diseases'.

I don't know about the herd but I do know a bit about the one heifer. It was a double-blind clinical study that found NSD between THC and placebo. It maybe that THC is not the right chemical and thus, the raw leaf product may have the anti-nausea component or there maybe a synergism among components. But that's the burden of another test.

Aspirin was originally derived from an acid extraction of salicilate from Willow (willow=Salix, from which the molecule in aspirin gets its' name.) Various combinations of salicilates have been used as analgesics since before time. Companies manage to make money off of them to this day. Same with opiates.

If some extract of Cannabis were found to have medically valuable properties Pharma would be all over it.
