I ran over a small turtle once. It was probably a box turtle. I thought it was a rock until I heard the crunch!

It happened six or seven years ago and I still remember it. Didn't pop my tire.

That would suck, but hitting a turtle is better then hitting a deer. Turtle's should just go under the wheels so you are out a pair of rims at worst.

Now a deer, that may be joining you in the front seat!

Oh my, I was worried about the stink getting on the SDL since both cars share the same garage.

The worst part was the skunk was dead for awhile, so yeah it was a cool smell.

I meant to say earlier that in northern VA we don't see that many turtles, but there are tons of deer on the roads. They will do a real number on your car or truck! We had one put his head through the radiator of our Ford Explorer a few years back.

The tires came throught it okay, though.

I have seen some alligator snappers that if you hit doing 90 would flip a car at worst, and probably could puncture a tire at least.

There is one in a museum near my home that is now about 70 years old and @160 lbs. I believe its carapace is about 30" measured dorsally.

I seem to recall my dad telling me stories about living in Miami and certain seasons these red crabs would come on land to have their young. When they spawned, there were tens of thousands of this little peckers. I guess tires were not as durable as they are now and cars would blow tires left and right. He said he recalled seeing roads just crapeted by the little buggers.
