We're already hoping that we can jettison Puerto Rico, because if the amount of cash that were throwing over there is any indication, Rico it is not.
Watch out. Start making sense around here and BENZ-LGB will say that you don't know how to read.

I doubt it would since Cuba has no benifit to us either way.

Don't worry Paul, the Germans, French, Spaniards investors are already taking care of that.

Cuba holds a geographically strategic position (look at its location at the entrance of the Gulf of Mexico). That, however, may not be so relevant in this day and age.

That one should go in the Quotes thread. It brings to mind the immortal words of the great Pee Wee Herman: "I know you are, but what am I?"

Indeed.

EDIT: Oops. Had a typo there. Can't have that.

Or better yet we could let the pair in this thread insult them to destruction. Or send an army of hairless, toothless chihuahuas to gum them to their knees.

When the invasion of Panama was going on or near at hand a commentater on TV said something about "anyway the cruise ships need places to dock down there". I never heard that comment aired again and don't remember seeing the commmentater again. But my take was that haliburton and the oil companies are not the only corporate interests that (not who) can motivate military action.

Its not that we can't do it. Invading Cuba would be like Panama, a couple days of action a few causulties ect. But remember the source of course a Cuban government run paper is going to print that.

What has changed is the media is run by super liberal gutless wonders who simply hate Bush and are happly going around reporting every little mistake. Plus the American public simply does not have the mindset to fight another WW2. I simply cannot imagin us giving up everything and hearing of 50,000 of our troops dieing in a day. Give up turning on lights at night? Buying new cars, buying tires ect.

If you're referring to unhealthy, unsustainable environmental exploitation, Castro's Cuba is way ahead of us.

Yep, but it may work against them. A good old navy task force can bring just about any country to its knees in about a week. Little back water third world dictators better remember that their 30 year old Mig's and junky gun boats are not going to be of much use.
