Congrats on that one!!! It ought to laqst you a long time! You have a nice sized fleet there! The 420SEL is a big elegant cruiser, you will really enjoy it for years and years. They cost HUGE $$$ when they were new, so most of the depreciation is gone now. They are VERY well built and long lasting cars and of course, real safe too. Enjoy it

Enjoy your new car. I have a 1990 420 SEL just purchased in April, 169,000. I am almost finished with doing the mechanical repairs as she was alittle neglected. It's a wonderful riding car, great handling and solid. i just love it.

I've just about caught up with all of the deferred maintenance left by the PO on my 86 420SEL...it rolls down the interstate with the A/C blasting, serene as a church. This is my favorite car. Less prone to rust than W116's, less complex than W140's, great combination.

I bought mine for $1500, have spent $2500 getting it largely where I want it mechanically, just noticed a rust bubble on the driver's door at the top of the side cladding and already knew about rust on the fenders behind the corner lamps, so that's my next project. Tremendous car, I can't stress that enough. Mine has 178xxx miles but it's going strong. I'll be curious to see how long the beast runs.
