going to wyoming thursday. any must sees?

so thursday i am going to drive out to wyoming. i will be stopping to see mt rushmore, and later the dinosaur natl monument. any suggested must sees along the way? any great car museums?

Wind River Canyon. Wonderful stratigraphy. When I was last there somebody had placed plaques along the road at various strata describing where you are in geologic time. I think it starts at pre-Cambrian and ends in holocene (or reversed, depending on which direction you're traveling).

Oh yeah, it's also a beautiful site.

If you're going to be in the northeast corner of the state, Devil's Tower is pretty cool. It's the giant rock standing alone that was the focus in Close Encounters of the Third Kind. If you're in the western part of the state, Yellowstone and Jackson Hole are worth seeing. Other than that, Wyoming is pretty desolate. Cheyenne and Laramie are well worth a stop if your tank is empty or you have to take a leak. Otherwise, keep driving.

thanks dave. i will be going to jackson i think it is. my wife has a educational seminar. she will fly and i will drive since i have never seen that part of the states before.

and i will deliver the heads from my favorite machinist's crank turner to a shop in (south dakota?) on the way out and pick them up on the way back after they have been tuned up.

hmmmmm maybe the education convention is booked into that one with the backlit waterfall in the pool.

no income tax...now i see why cheney likes it there. kindof like a carribean island without ever leaving the states.

I didn't know the wind blew 40 miles an hour everyday in the Carribean!

what might that small town in iowa be??there used to be a car museum in murdo S.D.right off I-90 about 1/2 way across the state,and of course you can't miss Wall Drug just don't drink the water.
