So the Mercedes Benz Forum Superbowl Fete is at your house this year???????

I'll buy the desire part. But, you have time to watch TV but no time to research a purchase? I like buying new toys more than watching TV.

Circuit City price matches against internet pricing?
Not from my experience. They have told me on more than one occasion that they in no way could match the prices I was bringing them off the internet. They will match Crutchfield but that's no big deal since they are already very high.

I recently went with an InFocus 61" DLP. It's amazing. We have a smaller high def TV but it is nothing like watching the big set on HDTV. Watching the 61" InFocus on Discovery HDT is like looking through a window and seeing it happen outside. Not to mention, the InFocus TV is around 7" thick and can be hung on the wall.

Well, you are right, I think. I hate shopping with a passion--for cars, golf clubs, liquor and many other things I enjoy When I say I don't have the time, I mean, I would rather be playing golf (working, fishing, anyting other) than spending 1/2 day looking at TV's. When I come home from playing golf and am ready to cook dinner and hang out with my girls, I would rather the flat screen be hanging in the kitchen so I can check in with the news, ect...

Salespeople love me. Funny thing is, my wife hates shopping too. We probably pay more for things than if we were 'shoppers', but I think the quality of life trade is worth it.

I have a client that does home audio/video. I am the only one of my 'circle of friends' that hasn't gone with an HD projector. I simply don't have a room big enough to dedicate to that size outfit (they look stupid in rooms that are too small). So no, I will be watchcing it on one of the big (9-14') screens

Coooooool.
Can't speak for all Circuit City stores. My own personal experience only. I was shopping for a Garmin GPS, CC advertised $899. I asked the store manager what if there was a cheaper price and he told me he would match the lowest plus 10% off. I went home, checked out the internet and printed an advertisement from an internet store (can't remember the name) as they sold the same unit for $799 plus shipping. Took the ad back to the store and they matched the internet store's ad plus 10% off their price. Not only did I get the unit the same day, I paid less plus no shipping. The CC store I bought my Garmin is in Hanover, MD (the one near Arundel Mills Mall).

Here is their price guarantee. You got lucky and your experience is not in line with Circuit City's policy on price matching. I tried that a few times and each time I was turned down with them telling me that the store is not local and we do not match internet pricing from internet based operations. It has to be a local store.

Quote:
If you've seen a lower advertised price from another local store with the same item in stock, we want to know about it. Bring it to our attention, and we'll gladly beat their price by 10% of the difference. If you see a lower advertised price (including our own sale prices) within 30 days of your purchase, we'll refund 110% of the difference.

Our policy applies only to advertised prices. It does not apply to special offers or promotions, including rebates, free-with-purchase offers and special financing. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide price matches online, so please visit the closest Circuit City store to take advantage of our Price Guarantee.

Read again. They are saying they won't honor a price match for an online order (evidently from their website); they reference visiting a store to take advantage of the policy. They did not say they do not match online prices. There's a difference, albeit a very small one.

My neighbor bought a 50-something inch DLP Sony TV a few months ago. He found the unit in a Best Buy, went home and found it for several hundred dollars cheaper on the internet.

He printed the page, brought it in, and they sold it to him for the same price, plus what he would've payed for shipping. The website didn't charge sales tax, either, so Best Buy's price was net of sale tax.

I had never heard before that Best Buy would price match against the internet, but they apparently do.

This is only if they have in stock in the store--they won't price match their internet offerings (where I found my tv) because they don't already have the expense of having it in the retail store.

No, read the first paragraph again where it says if you find it in a local store.

Best Buy doesn't price match internet prices in my area. We went to buy a dvd player for my daughter last night (for my Jeep) and went in with an internet price printed out that my wife had found. They only match other local stores, or a best buy online price. The home theatre guy told me that if the item were big and expensive enough, he had the authority to give me a comp or something else, but wouldn't price match internet prices. Seems like different stors have different policies.

I have bluray, and a Pioneer Elite Plasma. The plasma has 1080P, and when connected to the blu-ray, it simply becomes AWESOME! Everyone that comes over is just simply in awe when they see the TV. The picture is super clear and sharp. Not to mention the colors are bright and perfect.

The only problem is I dont watch too much TV. My dad does, which is why he bought it. But I never have the time to sit down and enjoy it... Anyone want to do it for me?
